Asha Guesthoouse - Bangkok Value
So you have rolled into Bangkok and need a place to stay? Well there are many options available to you, but you will have to look long and hard to find something that compares to the Asha Guesthouse.
The proprietors are quick to point out the great value of this establishment, and they are not wrong, with prices starting from 300 Baht per night you would not expect much more than a room with a fan right? Well the Asha supplies you with such luxuries as a swimming pool, TV/DVD room, a gym, pool room and free laundry facilities.
Located close to Saphan Kwai and within a short walks distance to the Skytrain station the Asha offers easy access to the centre of Bangkok……
Having stayed in this place several times now I can attest to the fact that the owners and staff are very friendly and helpful, you can leave your guide book in your backpack when you visit this place, the help on hand and the wealth of information available on the notice board should be all you need.
Another highlight is the ‘eat all you can’ buffet style breakfast served in the morning for a meager 80 Baht! Drink all the coffee and juice you like and fill up on toast, fruit and breakfast cereal.
Once breakfast is over with the restaurant serves a splendid selection of both Thai and western favourites throughout the day until 10pm, prices are very reasonable. In the evening the restaurant and bar area can become quite lively, a good place to make new friends and travel partners. Indeed one of my favorite things about this place is that you can find the owners in the bar most nights, socialising with the guests and making sure everything is running smoothly and it does.
The rooms are clean although a little worn, but for the price you can’t expect Hilton style furnishings and new paint every 6 months. The bathrooms are also kept very clean but once again, quite old. Rooms are available as twins or doubles, fan or aircon, each room has it’s own small balcony, depending on the location of your room the view across Bangkok can be quite good.
The pool is perfect for cooling off in the Bangkok heat, it forms part of the bar/restaurant area so you can chill out in the water whilst chatting to your friends in the restaurant. The gym is well equipped and the TV/DVD room has a large selection of movies on hand.
