Koh Phangan Parties - Full Moon Party - Half Moon Party - Any Party - We Cover Them All!

Temporary Insanity

Temporary Insanity Well it’s only several months late, but here is the review of the Temporary Insanity Party, held at the MTF resort. This was a major party, and represented the first of a new type of event to be held on Koh Phangan. The guys form MTF spared no expense as they prepared the resort for what was certainly going to be a good night.

We went along during the afternoon to set up our mobile audio streaming rig, as this was going to be the first event that we were going to stream live, to the entire world, across the internet. I have to say, the place was buzzing as the promotion staff from the sponsors and the technicians setting up the sound system and light show were really busy.

Temporary Insanity Party Now I want to mention somebody briefly, this somebody is named Brandon Block. I had met Brandon down at The Fridge on new years eve, and had already decided he is a total tosser. So it came as no surprise, to find that after being billed as the headliner for the Temporary Insanity Party for almost two months, with all the flyers, posters and event promotion materiel that had been produced and given out, the wanker didn’t bother showing. Seriously, anybody who rates this fat, burned out, once played a couple of good tunes, complete and total tosser as a decent DJ these days, needs to stop watching Eastenders, stop wearing Chav clothing and get a freaking life. What a loser.

A young lad named Paul opened the event, and did a damn good job considering the sound system was being built around him as he played. But the total star of the show just had to be Ed Kurno, what a class act this guy was, he did a great job of getting the crowd jumping, even though the party was a little quieter than expected. Rob Marmot was a little disappointing, and from my position standing next to him in the DJ booth I could tell his heart wasn’t really in it. Lastly, local DJ, Mr A, performed the usual kind of flawless set he has become famous for.

All in all, it was a fantastic event, definitely something never seen on the island before, the mixture of well set up venue, and hired gun DJ talent had the possibility of making this an awesome night. Unfortunately it has to be said, that there were just not enough people at the party, even the best DJ can do only so much with a half full dance floor. This was in no way the fault of the organisers, Koh Phangan is fairly quiet at this time of year, they took a great risk in setting this event up.

Here are a few recordings we took straight off the mixing desk, they are a little raw in a few places but they are not too bad, feel free to download them and see what you think.

Good luck to the guys at MTF and thanks to them for letting us stream the event live for them, we had been itching to try out our mobile streaming rig for ages.
